SodiumScore is an independent food-data project built and maintained by a data editorial team — not doctors, not registered dietitians, not a medical practice. We score 6,689 foods on two columns that matter for blood pressure — sodium and potassium — using a fixed, published rule set, and we write about the results in plain English with the numbers shown.
The database derives from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy), the most complete public food-composition dataset available. Every rating on this site traces to a USDA record and a rule in our methodology; when the data and the rule disagree with a popular claim, the data wins and we say so.
The editorial side of the site — verdicts, case files, star-eats, and guides — exists because numbers without kitchen context change nothing. Each article is written and reviewed by the data editorial team under the editorial policy, and corrected openly when we get something wrong: that process is public on the corrections page.
We are explicit about what we are not: this site does not provide medical advice, does not diagnose, and does not replace your clinician. Food data for blood-pressure decisions is context, not treatment — the medical disclaimer spells out the boundary. Questions, corrections, and data challenges are welcome at the contact page.

Ratings derive from USDA FoodData Central nutrient data and the 2025 ACC/AHA Hypertension Guidelines (DASH pattern).
